In order to play a PC game, any mouse can be used. The office-standardized mice, to the gaming-specific ones, can be the options. You can play with a regular mouse if you want to, but can you ignore all the benefits you can get from a gaming mouse? Like any other mice, a gaming mouse is built with the same structure. But with it, you can also get the competitive advantage and even make some gaming experience more enjoyable to play.
Actually you won’t find any difference in the design from the regular mice. The only difference you may notice is the blinking lights, flashing LED lights that indicate that a mouse is built specifically for gaming. Most of the gaming mice have these lights built-in, plus an icon that indicates a specific brand name. The design is considered a bit darky and sporty, but surely it won’t fit everyone’s desire.
On the regular mice, two buttons are usually found as left and right click. Gaming mice upgraded them to be more extensive. You can find several buttons in a single mouse. These buttons usually can be mapped in order to create shortcuts for doing an action faster. Not only for gaming, these buttons can also be adjusted in design works as well.
The software usually follows a gaming peripheral. The presets or “suite” can be applied to give different vibes that are usually shown via the gleaming lights. You use this software to create different profiles in case you can get bored easily. Aside from the aspect of aesthetics, there’s no further advantage.

When it comes to choosing, surely you want the best of the best of all. You could come across the two options, the dominators in the 90 dollars budget range, the Logitech MX Master 2S and Logitech MX Vertical.
Logitech MX Master 2S
Mx Master 2S is considered a classic in the mice word. Its design hasn’t deteriorated in times, and shows a timeless uniqueness that only a few can achieve. Logitech MX Master 2S is actually bigger than most regular mice. The shape is also a bit tilted to the side, making it unique among the others. It’s somehow created for right-handed people, since the left side is curved inwards a bit.
As usual, the upper side is filled with left and right clicks, which is basically a form of a regular mouse. However, there’s something interesting you can find right in the middle. It’s the MicroGear scroll wheel, with a Logitech logo right in front of it. What’s special about it rather than having the normal function of a wheel is its detachable feature, enabling easy fast scrolling. On the area of thumb rest, there’s also another wheel that functions as horizontal scroll, or changing apps. Read also: Logitech MX Master vs Apple Magic Mouse 2.
A sluggish button can also be found around the area, which can be adjusted to four different actions. When you simultaneously press the key and move the mouse in four directions, you can freely adjust what kind of action you want to have. You can further customize this in the Logitech Options software.
On/off switch can be found right on the bottom. You might notice different colors here, Green for ON, Red for OFF. Laser sensor is located below it, which works at a rate of 4.000 DPI. Basically you can use this mouse on every surface, even glass.
Logitech MX Vertical
Would you look at that. It seems unusual to call it a mouse rather than an art object. This odd-looking mouse is Logitech MX Vertikal. The shape clearly follows its name. With the shape, this mouse is rather clumped rather than hand resting on it. Gripping surfaces can be found around the entire hand area to prevent slip.
The right side is filled with the usual left and right clicks, while the middle is the place for the scroll wheel that works also as a middle button. Unfortunately, you can’t find the MicroGear feature on this mouse.
Below the wheel, you won’t find anything else, but around the thumb area, you can find two long buttons that function as forward and backward buttons. These can be changed later. Another key can be found on the upper side that functions for switching or adjusting pointer speed, but it also can be changed.
Also, there’s a colour-coded switch just like on the MX Master 2S. The sensor used for this mouse is the one that’s able to see 4.000 DPI, which is located underneath, and the sensor just works as expected.
Similar as the MX Master 2S, this mouse can also be further adjusted by utilizing the Logitech Options Software. You can easily assign the buttons here, and adjust anything you desire, even shortcuts.
With the options that overwrite global values, you can basically use it for multiple applications, like Photoshop for example. You can also make your work more enjoyable this way by optimizing the two long buttons for browsing.
Overall, with its unique design and capabilities, MX Vertical could be an enjoyable option, at least for collection. Its 4.000 DPI sensor is amazing, and it still functions pretty well despite some features missing.

Based on the comparison above, we can immediately see the clear ideas of both the Logitech MX Vertical and MX Master 2S. Logitech MX Vertical is overall great. Its shape and handling is pretty comfortable to work with. With such a price, you can get yourself a mouse that’s dependable for a long use.
The MX Master 2S, however, have the features that are missing from MX Vertical. This is confusing at first, since the MX Master 2S original has an even cheaper price. With a price lower than MX Vertical, you can get yourself the missing features such as horizontal control wheel, gesture control, and laser sensor.
It’s not surprising that MX Master 2S got all the attention here. It works through everything you possibly have. It’s coming with a wonderfully cheap price, but carrying all the features that are basically enhancing the overall user experience.
