Gaming Mice

Your computer is not just a single machine that works on its own unless it is a laptop because essentially there needs to be the main processing unit, a monitor, a keyboard to type and input command, as well as a mouse to accompany your keyboard. All of them are playing their own important rule in offering the best experience as well as performance both for productivity and entertainment. In many cases people have different preferences over all of these components.

If you are here then a mouse is what you are currently looking for and this peripheral is probably what we upgrade first when having video games as a hobby. PC gaming is a common thing nowadays and the options of peripherals specifically made for the application is getting abundant as well. For non-enthusiast however, as long as the mouse is working properly, changing them won’t make you a great player in an instant because they are more related to comfort and overall experience.

Rather than whether to upgrade or not, what’s more confusing is which of them will fit in our activity. To pick the best option, the first point we always recommend is determining your grip style since in general there are three of them. Palm grip requires a thick or tall mouse so it can sit well below our palm, claw grip on the other hand is still wide but they are thinner in comparison, the last is fingertip style where the mouse is smaller and thinner in general.

The second factor is your playing style because different games may need different mouse characteristics to work best. The loose guide is that those who tend to use large sweeping motion across large distances using the entire arm will work well with a mouse with low sensitivity while those who use the hand and wrist to move their mouse to achieve less travel distance and slower mouse speed will do well with a high sensitivity option. If you combine both of them, a medium sensitivity will be the best option.

Of course these are just a simple guide because at the end of the day which fits well on your palm and which makes you feel right at home will be the best option. Not only the mouse shape and sensitivity, many people are also looking for certain features or functions from the mouse so it is great to shortlist what seems to match with your preference the most so then we can work our way from the list both for convenience and to save time.

About Mamba Elite and G502

If you are here then we assume you already shortlist the amount of mice out there that looks like what you wished to have. There are tons of options in the market and they come from different brands as well, with one company usually having more than a pair of mice to offer for their customers. For those who want to keep the shopping as simple as possible, we recommend to check what those popular names carry in the catalog as popular options often have the better choices as well.

When talking about gaming mice, there are several names surfaces in our head and among them, Razer and Logitech are two familiar names we are sure most people, even those who are not looking for gaming peripherals will also recognize. These popular brands are often the go-to of many people who want to have a reliable peripherals including a gaming mouse and the reason is because they are not only pleasant to see for aesthetic but also work very well with new and advanced technologies.

Shorting into the brands still leaves you with so many options since these powerhouse do carry a lot in the catalog yet, if you also need to keep the budget fairly low, we do think Mamba Elite and G502 will be two amazing options to consider. These mice are very popular for a reason and how they are made for gamers who want bells and whistles in their mouse. Price wise they are also very friendly for many, including non-gamers to have.

In our opinion these are good mice that you can purchase to upgrade the common office model we may previously have. However, we also think Mamba Elite and G502 are not made for the same player based on the design alone and while you won’t find the newest technology in these mice, they do carry a lot in the unit. Personally, our preference matched G502 especially this Proteus variant best but you may like the other better. Read also: Corsair Nightsword Vs Logitech G502 here.

Mamba Elite and G502 Design

As you may expect for a gaming mouse in this price range, both of these variants are corded types which personally we have nothing against and still prefer for their reliability. The cords are also braided and very thick to make sure they can last for a very long time and are more durable against small animals or wear. They are very different in shape and the measurements are a bit different as well at 125mm in length, 64mm in width and 43mm in height compared to 132mm in length, 72mm in width, and 40mm in height.

If you like heavier mouse then the G502 is probably better since this mouse is noticeably heavier at 121 grams while the latter is almost 30 grams lighter. Both mice have matte, black finish and Razer also placed a textured grip on the side below the thumb buttons to increase comfort. The latter has a “wing” that extends outward to provide a base for your thumb when navigating the mouse. Build quality wise these mice are very robust and they seem made to last.

Mamba Elite and G502 Sensitivity

Just like any gaming mice, what you want to know first is probably their sensitivity as it is often boasted by gaming mice and in this side you can hope to see much because these optical models are offering up to 16000 DPI and 12000 DPI respectively. These are adjustable for your convenience and we can set them with lower or medium speed based on which seems to work best in your application since in most cases the highest range is overkill and oversensitive.

Mamba Elite and G502 Programmable Button

Next let’s dig in deeper to see what else these mice offer and we want to talk about the amount of buttons for you to customize. Here, the Mamba Elite is much simpler even in a glance because there are only two additional buttons at the side or above the thumb rest panel which both have subtle click and are very comfortable to utilize. There is a pair of buttons below the scroll wheel as well to adjust DPI and for the scroll wheel itself, we can tilt it to left or right.

Moving to G502, especially the Proteus variant, this mouse has tons of buttons to access and on the right side it has five of them for adjusting DPI both up and down, a DPI shift button, and a pair of forward and back buttons. At the top there is a profile select button and a wheel mode shift which is not programmable. In addition, the scroll wheel is also tilting to left or right.

Mamba Elite and G502 Features

The last part we want to mention is their additional features and the first thing is the ability to save profiles and both Mamba Elite and G502 do have an on-board memory that respectively can save up to 5 and 3 profiles that you can change depending on which fits your current game. The on-board memory is also convenient because you can bring the mouse everywhere and still get access for these presets profiles.

Second, we have mentioned that Logitech G502 is heavier than Mamba Elite and this is not only because the main mouse itself is already heavy but also because it brings another weight into the table and this is why you can customize the weight in case the 121 grams is not as heavy as you want it to be.

Mamba Elite Vs G502

These gaming mice are amazing but probably best for different people. We have no complaint about the DPI as we rarely use the top or maximum DPI range. What’s prominently different is the height of the mouse and the amount of buttons as you will find a lot of them to personalize in G502. But, in comparison for RGB lighting the Mamba Elite do have more panels to offer the best aesthetic.

All in all you can go amazing with any of them but, personally we like the Logitech G502 better in comparison because we are using claw style most of the time and there are also many programmable buttons in this mouse.
