Razer Basilisk vs Mamba

Razer is one of the leaders in the gaming peripheral industry. A Razer mouse always carries a particular air of class and quality. One of the latest gaming mice from the company is Razer Basilisk; this is an FPS-oriented gaming mouse with an ergonomic design and innovative DPI clutch for temporary DPI adjustment. Just like the Mamba, it supports sensitivity levels up to 16,000 DPI. So, is it really a great gaming mouse? Is it so better than the tried-and-true Razer Mamba? See the comparisons between Razer Basilisk vs Mamba below for the answer!

Design
Razer Basilisk vs Mamba have very different designs. The Basilisk is an ergonomic mouse designed for the right hand. It features a thumb rest pad on the left side, although the pad is rather narrow. There are also a couple of side buttons on the left. The top surface is quite wide. At first, it may seem like an excellent choice for palm grippers. Unfortunately, some users say that the M2 button may overlap with your ring finger, hence forcing you to use a half-claw grip or put three fingers on the top in a 1-3-1 position. Some people can get used to it, and they are happy. Some others prefer a mouse that feels more natural.

Razer Basilisk is also pretty heavy. This isn’t a problem if you prefer a heavy mouse. But if you prefer a lightweight mouse, especially for FPS games, it may not feel comfortable. See also: Razer Basilisk vs Lancehead.

On the other hand, Razer Mamba comes with a tried-and-true design. The shape is almost ambidextrous, but the gentle curves are optimized for the right hand. In addition, it has two side buttons on the left that are easily accessible by the thumb. Although the design is obviously for palm grippers, this is actually a great mouse for all grip types. You can hold it in almost any position you desire.

Features
Razer Basilisk comes with a unique feature, which is the DPI clutch. It allows you to change the sensitivity level temporarily. It is especially useful for precision aiming, such as when sniping. You may need some time to get used to the feature, but it does work pretty well once you get the hold of it. In addition, Razer Basilisk comes with eight programmable Hyperesponse buttons. This model is already Chroma-enabled. The scroll wheel’s resistance is customizable, but you don’t really need to tinker the scroll wheel at all.

Most people agree that the lighting system on Razer Mamba is much more luxurious. It has light lines on the left and right sides, and you can program the lighting through the Chroma software. It has a total of nine programmable buttons, including the left and right clicks of the scroll wheel. As usual, you can assign DPI increase/decrease to the additional buttons for on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment.
