About Razer Naga Trinity
Razer Naga has been many people’s favorite especially those who often play massive multiplayer online games. The original model was released about five years ago and now, the company decide to launched its another model with the Naga Trinity. It is not an affordable mouse but by paying the amount you will get the 5G sensor and interchangeable side plates, which makes the unit a very versatile gaming mouse. What’s makes some people annoyed with the mouse either the original or this model is its sheer number of buttons.
Razer Naga Trinity Design
For those who used the original Naga already know how comfortable the mouse is and this one is just exactly the same. The unit has 3 distinct entities in the body with the swappable thumb panel that you can take off easily; the 12 button layout, the hex layout with 7 buttons surrounding a central, ridged thumb rest, and a simpler layout with 2 curved buttons and a large, ridged thumb rest. You even can use the mouse without the side panel but it won’t be comfortable since the side will be exposed.
Razer Naga Trinity Features
As you may already expect, the highlighted features or capabilities of Trinity is located at its swappable side panels, so we can’t say anything more about them except they give a great performance that makes the mouse moved from the genre-specific one hit wonder into a versatile powerhouse. Just like many other great mouse, this one also comes with a software. They used Razer Synapse 3 software to program buttons, create profiles for individual games, and change its RGB lighting or adjusting the DPI, which is between 100 and 16000.
If you use the mouse just as it is, the pre-set DPI setting is only five and you can access them with a pair of dedicated DPI buttons below the scroll wheel, which ranges from 800 to 1600. If you think it is quite a hassle reaching them, you can assign the function the side buttons instead. What’s so great in from the software is it able to instantly recognize any panel you attached, so you can swap it anytime you want between games without doing further adjustment anymore.
You can even reprogram buttons in either list of pictorial form as well as open up a set of Hyper shift buttons to completely change the key map that you can do by holding down on your preferred button. You will also be able to program macros, which will be useful when playing MMO.
About Razer Naga Chroma
If you think that the swappable panel is too much and you just want a simpler mouse with more affordable price, you may want to take a look at the company older mouse, the Naga Chroma. This mouse is very similar to the Trinity and frankly speaking, their most important difference is only the options to swap its side panel because this one comes with non-swappable panel, so the 12 buttons will and always stays there. This mouse is also wired and has the same DPI range. Read also: Razer Naga Chroma vs Mamba RZ01 here.

From the outside, the Chroma looks like exactly like Trinity with its 12 buttons attached to the side. The shape and overall appearance are the same and it still have the comfortable grip and good feeling when used. For those who never use the mouse will probably need some time to get used to the side button that can get overwhelming for first timer. It also have two regular click button, scroll wheel, and a pair of small button below it for DPI setting.
Razer Naga Chroma Features
There is nothing much we can say about the Naga Chroma since you can get what’s available in Trinity except for the options to change its side buttons. You can assign function on its each buttons through the Synapse software. It comes with preset DPI level options, but you can always adjust it to your liking easily with its software. You may also create and assigning macros, performance surface calibration as well as changing the RGB lighting or even installing custom add-ons to tune your mouse performance.
For the sensor itself, Naga Chroma comes with a proprietary laser sensor adjustable up to 16000 CPI. For many gamers, probably including you, this amount of CPI won’t be that helpful or necessary but it is still a welcomed capability. The nature of laser sensor will let you track with a good precision is a variety of surfaces even in reflective surfaces like glass table or polished wood desk. Since you may also calibrate it, you can suit it with any surface for better tracking experience.
The total of programmable buttons through Synapse software here is 19 buttons. Besides acting as a scroll wheel, the buttons also moves in 4 directions, which can be useful in regular use. If you don’t prefer using the top sensitivity buttons with its preset function, you can always assign the function to another buttons and put another function there.
Now, let’s compare Razer Naga Trinity with Chroma. As we already mentioned earlier, the prominent difference between these two is the swappable side panel, which makes Trinity can use 3 types of side panels while Chroma only has one. It also affect the programmable buttons because it will have 9/14/19 programmable buttons depend on the panel attached and at the other hand Chroma with fixed 19 customizable buttons. Another difference is the sensor since Trinity use optical sensor while Chroma use laser sensor.
