Computers are very versatile as they are useful for various purposes whether it is productivity or entertainment and now almost all of us use computers at a certain level or degree with the daily job or education. Computer is a set of different components that work together into a seamless system so there is a display or monitor to show you input, process and output, keyboard and mouse for inserting input, and then the processing unit itself. All of them are necessary to allow users to utilize the device for various applications.
One of them is missing or has an issue then our workflow will be disturbed as well but, sometimes it is also necessary to use a component that is designed for your typical application. One of them is for gaming purposes and the reason is because the common office peripheral may not be able to deliver the type of performance or features needed for this certain application. We all know that PC gaming is a huge trend nowadays and so do the products related to it.
Not only the processing unit and display that is made to meet your certain specification, the keyboard and mouse are subject to be upgraded as well. When it comes to PC gaming, all keyboards and mice are actually useful as long as they are functional and have no issue. The difference is on user experience because the office keyboard or mouse are not designed for rigid movement and typing. They are made for the common application hence more versatile and probably conforming for general purpose.
What’s special about gaming peripherals is that the unit itself is designed with video gaming in mind. Most of us prefer mechanical keyboards as they are more satisfying to press and have a certain feedback to it while fast enough to deliver command. Common keyboards can be soft in comparison and too shallow or deep, making the experience far less satisfying, moreover if you have been used to a certain type of different keyboard before. Yet, we also agree that it all depends on personal experience and taste.

As for gaming mice, this is probably not limited to only gamers because gaming mice are known for their superb comfort so even regular PC users will love to have them. They are also very affordable for almost any PC or laptop owner to have while also easy to swap as they are mostly plug-and-play. Gaming mice, besides boasting the comfort or ergonomics, may also come with certain features such as extensive programmable buttons like those in Corsair Scimitar Vs Logitech G600.
About Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2
If you game often on the computer, it is wise to invest some on the mouse as it means we will spend much time using them. Gaming mice are comfortable as the shape is usually contoured to match your palm but it is not a single standard because size, shape, and grip style varies among users. In our opinion it is best to try them first if possible or choose a model with similar shape to your favorite mouse as then we don’t have to spend time getting used to the new mouse.
When it comes to gaming mice, there are numerous names to try and shop from but we advise to check the popular name first because they tend to be better in collection and price range. They are also easy to find and the fanbase can help troubleshoot if you meet any issue in the future. One brand that we also recommend is Razer as this company has a good reputation and there are many who agree that their gaming mice are among the best for the quality and features.
They carry various models as well if you need a specific gaming mouse with certain features or characteristic but for players who want the no-frills, simple, yet working mouse for both game and productivity, Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 will be two amazing variants to consider. Both of them are ideal for players who are used to regular mice and are placing comfort while overlooking fancy features because this is what the two are famous for. Price wise they are also very affordable and currently below $60.
What we love from Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 is how they sit well below the palm and easy to move around when you are navigating or aiming. They are good for typical computer applications and amazing for FPS games but if you are an MMO enthusiast, we do think mice with more buttons will be more efficient as the two are very minimalistic. Performance wise they are also similar depending on which feels more comfortable for you.
Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 Design
The first thing that separates Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 is their shape and as you can see from the sample picture above, the two are different by design. Viper is one of our favorite ambidextrous mice with a low profile and fairly long body with a slight dent that gives it a dip or hip in the middle of the mouse. It is featured with few buttons and a textured grip on both sides where our thumb and bottom of ring finger used to rest. On the metric it is 4.9 inch long, 2.6 inch wide, and 1.4 inch tall, weighing at 69 grams.
As for DeathAdder V2, this mouse is definitely taller than Viper but if you have used the original variant, the design doesn’t change much. It is still a right-hand mouse with a slight curve on the left and a bulkier support on the right side which flare a bit for comfort. Both sides are featured with a small area covered with textured grip and there is a slight change on the DPI shift button but probably only for aesthetic purposes as it doesn’t change the function.
Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 Sensor
It seems when looking for a new gaming mouse we tend to check the DPI or CPI first because this indicate how sensitive the mouse can be set to and while it is a pros if you need a mouse that can move cursor across the screen with just a tiny bit movement, it is not ideal in most application. Thankfully, most gaming mice are adjustable when it comes to sensitivity and with Viper, we can adjust it up to 16,000 CPI while DeathAdder V2 is up to 20,000 CPI.
Another difference is their type of sensor because while the two are using optical sensors, the technology is newer in DeathAdder V2 which already uses Focus+ instead of the common 5G sensor. This sensor is said to be developed in collaboration with Pixart and the amount of sensitivity is also improved a lot from the original model.
Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 Buttons
The next factor we want to talk about is their buttons because you may want to use them for several other functions and just like other Razer mice, these are also programmable through Synapse. There are a total of 8 buttons in both Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 including the primary left and right click. The additional buttons are two, located at the top behind their scroll wheel and the side while the scroll wheel itself can be clicked as well. The top button is preset with DPI setting and side buttons can be mapped.
The feel of these buttons are about the same, they are a bit noisy compared to regular office mice but have great feedback. As for the side buttons, they can be a bit hard when brand new but there is no issue in performance for all buttons.
Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 Features
The last part we want to talk about is their features and beside the mappable or programmable button, both Razer Viper and DeathAdder V2 are also RGB so you can adjust the lighting to your taste through the software. Another pros of these mice is the on-board memory which was missing on the original DeathAdder. This memory allows users to store profiles directly on the unit which makes it convenient when you need to change the computer.
Razer Viper vs DeathAdder V2
These mice from Razer are equally comfortable for users who are used to mice with similar shapes. The difference is that DeathAdder V2 is more ideal for people who are using their mouse with palm grip and it has a taller profile while Viper is good for palm grip but better for claw style. In addition, the shape is also different as Viper is ambidextrous and in the sensor part DeathAdder is allowing for higher sensitivity up to 20,000 CPI.
- Ambidextrous Design: Created for left and right-handed users with accessible, programmable buttons on both sides
- Customizable Chroma RGB Color Profiles: Includes 16.8 million color combinations w/ included preset profiles
- 8 Programmable Buttons: Allows for reconfiguration and assignment of complex macro functions through Razer Synapse 3
- Drag-Free Cord for Wireless-Like Performance: Razer Speedflex cables eliminate the need for mouse bungees, drastically reducing weight and drag
- 3x Faster Than Traditional Mechanical Switches: New Razer optical mouse switches uses light beam-based actuation, registering button presses at the speed of light
- Immersive, Customizable Chroma RGB Lighting: Supports 16.8 million colors w/ included preset profiles; syncs with gameplay and Razer Chroma-enabled peripherals and Philips Hue products
- 8 Programmable Buttons: Allows for button remapping and assignment of complex macro functions through Razer Synapse 3
- Drag-Free Cord for Wireless-Like Performance: Razer Speedflex cables eliminate the need for mouse bungees, drastically reducing weight and drag for absolute control
We should shop based on which fits our preference the most and among the two, we personally like the shape of DeathAdder V2 because it is comfortable for palm grip and a bit heavy which we also like better. But, Viper is also an amazing option if you prefer a low-profile mouse or using claw grip.
